Pre-trip

Trip minus one week:

Practice with loaded backpacks at Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz.

Packs' weight: 22-24 pounds, a bit heavier than we plan to carry on the trip because of extra water needed today.

Managed 11.6 miles with 1100 feet elevation change in a little over 4 hours.

How'd it go? Better than expected. Packs fit. Shoes fit. Day-after aches were manageable. I think we're ready.

One hiccup: left our lunches in the fridge at home. We rushed through the trial hike because we were so hungry. Recovered quickly at West End Tap & Kitchen, especially since it was happy hour. A very happy ending for today. 🍻

Camino de Santiago

Welcome to Santhosh's & Karen's Camino de Santiago Blog

This September we will walk a 200 mile section of the Frances Camino route from León to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Why? Our peripatetic genes are calling. It's a chance to meditate our way from town to town. Backpacking-lite with no tent or extra provisions to lug…. indulging in fresh, delicious Spanish food.

My goal is to create a simple blog whenever I have energy and WiFi.

Stay tuned….
